Unzip The Zagreb Card
The Art Pavilion, one of Zagreb's landmarks, is one of the most monumental structures in the downtown area. Built 110 years ago to host large exhibitions, it is one of the oldest such places in this part of Europe and a real symbol of Zagreb's cultural life. The beloved Art Pavilion was built after the Millennium Exhibition in Budapest, organised in 1896 to mark the thousandth anniversary of Hungary's statehood, Hungary being a country with which Croatia and Slavonia had legal and political ties. After the exhibition, its steel frame was moved to Zagreb and a competition to design and build the Art Pavilion was held. The winners were Viennese architects, Hellmer and Fellner, renowned for their theatre-building projects, and the building was carried out locally under the supervision of engineer Milan Lenucci. Lenucci also connected the eight most beautiful city squares and gardens, creating a landscaping feature that we know the "Green Horseshoe", now one of Zagreb's most recognisable landmarks.
Since it was opened on December 15th 1898, the Art Pavilion has proudly served as the venue for uncountable events. You can use the Zagreb Card to explore this impressive monument. With a massive 50% discount when you vist any of the exhibitions at the Arts Pavillion, you'll soon be a fan of this pearl of Neoclassicism.
The Zagreb Card also offers unlimited use of public transport, discounts at virtually all the city's museums, reduced prices at many restaurants, shops, and service providers and many other concessions. All of these great offers combine to make the Zagreb Card an irreplaceable travel companion!
You can purchase the Zagreb Card online at www.zagrebcard.fivestars.hr.
